• Nzhelele River Water Resources Investigation -
  The complex interactive processes in the Nzhelele River Basin were evaluated and their impact on the water resources and the water users was examined.  To achieve this, the water situation in the basin was assessed in terms of past, present and future water use, the availability of water and the potential for development.  The most effective means to improve the supply of water to existing and possible future users was determined. • KwaNdebele Bulk Water Project -

• Albany Coast Bulk Water Project -

• Mokerong District, Lebowa Emergency Water Supply - Domestic water supply systems to some 250 villages having a combined population of about 300 000 were evaluated.  More than 140 boreholes were drilled and equipped to augment supplies to the communities. • Rotary Funded Community Borehole Project -
  Development of a ground water source and reticulation system for several rural communities. The project included community involvement and fundraising. Client Rotary SA and Rotary International. Contract Value R 1 Mil.

  30 rural settlements with a total population of over 150 000 people serviced by ground water schemes and including geophysical siting, drilling, test pumping scheme design and construction of pipelines, reservoirs and reticulation using labour intensive methods and community training. • Kenton on Sea Bulk Water -
  Responsible for the augmentation of bulk ground water from coastal aquifers to Kenton on Sea, Bushman’s River Mouth and surrounding communities. Client Albany Coast Water Board. Contract Value R 0.5 Mil.
  
  
• Ndlambe Water Resources Assessment -

• Lobatse Well field Evaluation -
  The well field at Lobatse Mine in Botswana was evaluated and the ground water potential determined. Client Debswana. Contract Value R 2.5 Mil.
  
  
• Hydrogeological Mapping -
  The Department of Water Affairs and Forestry intends to produce 1:500000 scale hydrogeological maps for South Africa.  WSM developed the Legend and Protocol for these maps after which WSM produced a pilot map for an area covering of about 90 000 km2.  The map depicts amongst other things, borehole prospects and ground water availability. • Potgietersrust Platinum Mine -

SITUATION ASSESSMENTS, MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AND SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

• Research into Per Capita Water Use of Developing Communities -

• Rural Water Management System -
  A computer based water management system was developed for use in rural areas in Lesotho.  The system comprises a detailed database containing village and water source related information.  Facilities are available to obtain processed data output. • Community Water Supply Cost Model -
